What is Feminism?

There are many misconceptions about what constitutes being a feminist. You do not have to be a woman to be feminist. A feminist is someone who believes in women’s empowerment. Feminism is a movement with the purpose to obtain social, political and economic equality for women as well as the human rights that women are often denied. Being a feminist does not mean that you hate men. It means that you want equality between men and women such as being paid equally for the same jobs and challenging double standards and the stereotypes that are placed upon women.
